Hello, I'm Lukas
I work as a project manager. I'm a parent. I'm an expat based in Berlin, Germany.
A few years back I moved here with my family. What began as a temporary assignment gradually became a new chapter of life overseas.
How It Started
Moving to Germany wasn’t part of the long-term plan. Like many expat moves, it began as a work opportunity and quickly became something much bigger.
Initially, the first few months were demanding — unfamiliar processes, new routines, new expectations. Daily tasks seemed more tangled than they should.
The Adjustment Period
Culture shocks, uncertainty, and plenty of trial-and-error learning marked that time. Yet gradually, routines took shape. We found places that fit our needs, connected with other families, and began building something that felt steady.
Why I Built Harbor Light Frame
Most information online was either corporate relocation guidance or shallow tourism content. What was missing was an honest, everyday family viewpoint.
This site aims to bridge that gap — practical guidance based on real life in Germany.
What This Site Is (And Isn't)
This site IS:
- Hands-on experience from living in Germany
- Centered on family life and everyday realities
- Updated whenever something truly changes
This site ISN'T:
- An official tourism authority resource
- A sponsored review platform
- Just another generic travel blog
Looking Ahead
Our stay in Germany goes on, and so does the learning journey. As long as the information remains useful, I’ll continue documenting what we find.
If you have questions about family life in Berlin or anywhere in Germany, don’t hesitate to get in touch.
Best regards,
Lukas
